Taking its ball and going home.

Around IT rags, Apple has sort of given itself a reputation of being quick to sue when it gets rubbed the wrong way. According to an article published by eWeek titled "Apple Rumors Fly as Macworld Nears" that the company is at it again.

The seemingly sue-happy Apple does so to protect its investments in its business, but this one strikes as being a bit over zealous. There are websites in the business of publishing rumors, three of which have caught the company's attention.

While the sites have gone unnamed, since the filings come so close to the release of the ThinkSecret story, "EXCLUSIVE: Apple to drop sub-$500 Mac bomb at Expo," once could logically infer that there must be at least some truth to the story and that Apple has taken particular offense to it. And those that regularly read Mac-centric sites might be able to venture some good guesses as to who might be involved in the cases.

It's difficult to believe that such suits could bring any judgement against the sites and perhaps they've been brought simply as an intimidation tactic. And as stated earlier, Apple certainly has the right to protect is business especially if these rumors are making the rounds due to corporate spying. However, this action seems to say that an educated guess about what the company is doing or what it will do could land a law suit.
