Apple is both a software and hardware company

There's this silly notion that Apple is either a hardware company or it's a software company. People will get into hot debates about which it is citing all sorts of "facts" to support their claim. The truth of the matter is that being one does not preclude it from being the other.
Apple is—and has been proving, that it provides a complete computing solution from the hardware to the software for almost any need—save perhaps, some specific industries. To argue that Apple is a hardware company is moot since there is no argument. Similarly, there's no denying that Apple is a software company. It makes software too afterall! This argument is more appropriate for Microsoft, Adobe, Bare Bones, Ambrosia, or any other outfit that really only makes software. (Microsoft's keyboards, mice, and XBox noted). And of course there are hardware companies like HP, Epson, Dell, and Gateway (again, printer drivers and HP's HP/UX noted) too.
It seems odd to take two products from a single company and take sides as to which "type" of company it is based on one product or the other. Colgate-Palmolive makes cleaning supplies and pet food. So which is it? Is it a pet food company or a cleaning supplies company?
This argument is silly. Isn't it?
