Made in the USA
This is a listing of those companies headquartered in the United States. At the bottom of the list are foreign companies.

Underlined names are those of companies that produce their goods and/or services in the US (as near as can be determined). For example, an American call center company that operates from the US would be underlined. As would a company that manufactures in the US but ships globally. US companies that operate outlet facilities or exporting operations in other countries are not considered to be foreign. For example, retailers with physical locations outside the US. The same holds true for service companies like couriers and airlines.

In contrast, organizations with facilities for manufacturing, or other functions not necessarily performed outside the US are considered to have foreign operations. Even if the functions are subcontracted. For example, an American company that operates a call center outside of the US, or subcontracts the operation to a company outside the US, the company is considered to have foreign operations.

Given the nature of publicly traded and holding companies, some companies may still be considered domestic despite seemingly foreign ownership. For example, a person or company may hold a controlling interest in a publicly traded company, but it's the base of operations that dictates whether or not a company is foerign or domestic. This is because, in theory a single person could own the controlling interest in an enterprise, but would naturally not operate the business from his a her house. Therefore, the established headquarters for the company are considered to be where the company is from. In short, it's where the company is headquartered that's the determining factor, not who owns it.

In the section for foreign companies, the reverse is largely true. Such that a foreign company with manufacturing operations in the US would appear underlined.

Finally, parent company names or better known names (perhaps a well-known product) may appear in parentheses after the name. For example, see United Industries or Jaguar.

NOTE: This listing is in no way meant to be construed as derogatory. Neither is it meant to imply inferiority in foerign goods or services. Rather, it is here as a exercise to promote nationalism and pride in the production of American goods and services.
